Volcanoes are awesome, incredibly powerful and potentialy dangerous to not just the imidiate area. In the past, prolonged eruptions may have contributed to mini-ice ages such
as the one in the 18th century. Even more alarming, scientists believe that a massive chain of volcanic eruptions in Siberia, that lasted for many thousands of years, was responsible for the worst mass-extinction in the earths history.
Hopefully, this one will do nothing worse than interupt air-travel.
